2017

SCHOLARHIP RECIPIENTS

Nasir Boykins and Ester Adiv, pictured left, are the Class of 2017 Highland Park Athletic Boosters $1000 Scholarship recipients. The scholarships, awarded at the 2017 senior awards ceremony, were given to the female athlete and male athlete whose dedication to the Highland Park athletics program has exemplified outstanding teamwork and good sportsmanship, both on and off the field.

The students who received this award not only had an impact on the sports they played here in Highland Park, but they also expressed how the HP Athletic program has had a meaningful impact in their lives and on their high school experience.

We congratulate these two fine student-athletes and wish them much success in their future endeavors.

Ester Adiv played four years of soccer, basketball, and softball for the Highland Park Owls. She was the starting goalkeeper for the Girls Varsity Soccer team and was captain of the Girls Varsity Basketball and Softball teams. She says HP Athletics “taught me that hard work and discipline pays off tenfold in the long run” and that being a part of these teams, “has been the most fun and exciting times of my high school experience.” Ester will be attending Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences where she will be working towards a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences or criminal justice.

Nasir Boykins played four years of Owls football and basketball, and was a late comer to track and field, where he also performed very well.  Nasir said one of his fondest Varsity Football experiences was throwing a touchdown pass to a teammate who had just come back after a long injury hiatus. He also expressed how at the Penn Relays he was humbled to be in a “great atmosphere to experience all the other athletes with amazing talents and abilities.” Nasir will be attending William Paterson University, where he will be playing football for the Pioneers. His interests are in science and criminal justice.

The 2018 HP Athletic Teams Booster Scholarship application will be available February 2018.
